The mediocrity is at the end, well, for a short while at least. You’d think that winning most of your games week-in week-out would be great. But it’s no fun when you’re consistently battering teams with ease. To be frank it’s tedious, verging on boring. Nor is it any fun for the teams on the other end:

Bizzarely, the collective groan after drawing another amateur team in the Northern Rail Cup was quelled by getting Wakefield in the Challenge Cup. And here’s me thinking for years that the aim was to go further in the comp… But it is exciting, this voyage of the unknown. Now we’re going to see Salford pushed to the limit. Can they increase the intensity level? When the chips are down, can they raise their game? Surely they can, and to beat Leigh and even compete with Wakefield, they need to. If nothing else, win or lose, we’re going to see a real contest. I can’t wait. Neither can Shaun McRae:
