On paper the game of the third round of the Super League Qualifiers was Catalans Dragons home game against Leigh Centurions with both sides needing the post that a win would bring as they continued the fight for their Super League lives.

Also on Saturday was Warrington Wolves encounter with Halifax at the Halliwell-Jones. Warrington were looking to keep their unbeaten run going while Halifax were still looking for their first points.

On Sunday London Broncos visited Hull KR and Widnes Vikings were the hosts for the visit of Featherstone Rovers.

Leigh Centurions travelled well to the South of France and embarrassed their hosts by recording a 30-10 as the Dragons failed to find any spark at the end of an awful season.

Earlier in the afternoon the Warrington Wolves had made heavy going of their victory over an impressive Halifax. The final scoreline of 22-8 flattered the home side and for long periods it was the visitors who looked the most impressive.

Hull KR maintained their 100% record and went second in the Qualifiers table after a narrow 35-30 win over the London Broncos where the visitors acquitted themselves well and gave the home side a real run for their money. Ackers had opened the scoring for London but converted tries from Addy, Moss, Mulhern and Shaw and an Atkin drop goal gave KR a 25-8 lead at the interval. Cunningham grabbed London’s second before Shaw added to an earlier Ellis penalty to stretch the Robins lead to 33-14. Walker added the third London try before an Ellis penalty made it 35-20. Ioane and Kear both scores in the last four minutes but KR held on for the narrow win.

The biggest win of the round came for the Widnes inking who brushed aside the challenge of Featherstone Rovers with an eleven try haul and a 58-10 win to lift themselves into the top three on points difference. Hanbury and Runciman both had braces in the opening twenty minutes to sprint to a 22-0 lead before Tualapapa got Featherstones first. Bridge grabbed two tries of his own in four minutes before the interval for a 34-4 interval lead. Lockwood scored the visitors second early after the break for 34-10 but then it was all one-way traffic as Bridge and Hanbury completed their hat-tricks, marsh grabbed a Brace and Mellor added the eleventh try of Widnes’s afternoon on the final hooter to give the Vikings the best points difference in the league.

On current standings (three games of seven played);

2018 Super League: Warrington Wolves, Hull KR, Widnes Vikings
Million Pound Game: Leigh Centurions v. Catalans Dragons
2018 Championship: London Broncos, Featherstone Rovers, Halifax
