| Dixon got big wraps from us Saints fans in the first few games then got dropped for other players and has only had bit parts yet.
You can expect a player who can tackle and run all day as we produce that type of player from our academy, but really he's not been tested enough to be able to give him a fair assessment.

| Never let us down, plenty of speed and picked up a good few tries. Will be sad to see him go, but for some reason, his face doesnt fit. Defintily better than Matty Ashurst.

| That sounds good - Matty Ashurst has been good this year so if he is better than him, that'll do! Is he out of contract this year then or is he just being allowed to leave?

| He's out of contract. But with this set of backrowers ahead of him he would struggle to get a game next year.
Manu, Sia, TP, Wilkin, Flanaghan.

| Would be a good signing for Salford.
To be honest i would be disappointed to let him go as for me he is a really promising player.
He is probably unlucky in that Saints dont currently have any gaps that need filling in the backrow, so is not getting the opportunities his talent deserves.
He is very much a running backrow who runs very good angles. He also has excellent pace.
Weakness is in defence as he tends to drop off some tackles but that might be his youth and lack of size.
More talented all round player than Matty Ashurst, who i know has gone well at Salford.

| When I posted few month back that a young player has been told he can go. It was Dixon I was referring to.
I was told at the time that Widnes and Salford wanted him.

| I think he could make an outstanding centre. He runs brilliant lines, tackles very well and is pretty quick. He's not big enough for the second row in any serious capacity, he should be given a run at centre.

| Is this what Eamonn McManus meant when he said we need to put our faith in St. Helens' outstanding academy crop?

I've come to the conclusion that McManus just says what he thinks fans want to hear but then does the opposite. The line about young players was just to cover doing things on the cheap.
As with Wheeler, Dixon was in excellent form at the start of the season but got dropped with the change in coaching setup. It would be a shame to lose him as I think he was developing into a good second rower.
