Leigh Centurions are pleased to announce the capture of wing Alex Brown from Super League play-off side Hull Kingston Rovers.
The 26 year old made sixteen appearances in Super League during 2013, scoring nine tries for the Robins.
A physically imposing player and regular scorer throughout his career, Brown is best remembered for a three season stint with Batley Bulldogs during which he helped the underdog side with two tries in the final to ensure a nerve-wracking Northern Rail Cup success over Widnes Vikings in 2010. It was one of fifty five appearances for the club.
Brown first made an impression on the professional ranks with Keighley Cougars and scored 14 tries in his first two seasons with the Cougars before equalling that in just one year at Rochdale Hornets. His form for Hornets brought Super League interest and he joined Huddersfield Giants, playing one game for the club before his first spell with Batley in 2010.
After a short-lived Rugby Union experience with Sale Sharks he returned to the Bulldogs before moving to Craven Park, and helping Gateshead Thunder on occasion last term.
Leigh Centurions Head Coach Paul Rowley said of his latest capture;
"Alex will ensure there is massive competition within our back line and comes to the club with some obvious qualities. He is a powerful runner with plenty of pace who sets himself very high but achievable targets. Like all our players Alex is a grounded and respectful young man who is keen to show his value to our team."
Director Steve Openshaw added;
"We are delighted to announce Alex as our latest signing from Super League. We believe this signing further states our intentions for 2014 and we firmly believe Alex is the type of player that our fans will be excited by. Alex strengthens what is already a very strong squad of players.
"Alex has scored tries this season in Super League and will add pace and power to our back division, there is no doubt that this is an excellent signing and one that will put bums on seats."
On the back of this news, Centurions have also extended the season ticket Standing Order monthly payment deadline to 20th October.
