| From the Quins site......
Harlequins last met Warrington on the final day of the 2009 season and McDermott believes both sides have changed a great deal since then.
"With a full preseason under Tony Smith and a further year under James Lowes, Warrington are going to be an improved team.
"This is only our second game of the season and we are very much still building and working on our systems of play."
WTF? If he is this defeatist BEFORE the game, what must his team-talk be like? 12 months ago, we were going to win it, this year he has asked for 10 games before Judgment is made and now sent a young squad into battle at the home of the CC holders with that little gem......
Coaching skills (or lack of them) aside.........maybe Mac should spend more time telling the players that they can win the title and less time looking for excuses BEFORE THE GAME!
Jesus wept....I am staring to agree with Listy.

| System? There is no system based on today's outing. No more excuses, undercooked, no preseason, injuries, no coaching.

Coach Brian McDermott admitted: "Warrington were outstanding and white hot. =#FF0000[size=150If we were going to lose it should have been by a lesser score.[/size
"At this stage of the season it is not about winning but performance. But =#00BF00[size=150we have not too much to build on for next week and that's my main concern.[/size

Brian, did you really say all that? "No comment" would have been a hundred times more informative.

| He is digging his own grave with Bollox like that.
Sorry, but even if Wire were on fire, getting nilled is a disgrace and the buck stops with the players and the coach who trains/mentors/picks them to represent the club.
Having not seen the game, I find it hard to comment or blame individual players, but the utter tripe he comes out with makes it very easy to point the finger at him.
If only his game plan/System was as cryptic as his after match comments then some teams might not find it so hard to beat us

Right. And it's seen as not acceptable for a coach to blame a poor (or even abysmal) performance on injuries. But that doesn't excuse the nonsense he's reported as having spouted.
As things appear to be at the club, who would be willing to take on the job if BM walked or was pushed? Any incoming coach of any quality would insist on recruitment of another few quality players. If DH couldn't guarantee that, no new coach would come, except for a complete fool. Dan Staines anybody

OK.......that explains 2 losses from our current run.....and I accept that it is tough on him, but if we continue to make excuses for him until Purdo/Dorn come back, we will already be nearing the 10 game target he set himself. What then? Do we start looking for a coach to try to get us off the bottom of the table? Losing is a habit and a bad one at that and we have become very used to losing. Bradford and Celtic are our only two wins since May last year....that is unacceptable from a professional club...in any sport.
I can allow for injuries, but the tripe he comes out with is unacceptable...
By his own admission he had no clue as to what went wrong last year and now he is saying he needs more time to get the players ready for the season? All smoke and Mirrors from a likeable bloke who just seems to be way out of his depth coaching in Superleague.
I would love to be proved wrong and to see Catalans put to the sword, but somehow, I just can't see it. Then it's away to Hull and Leeds so 5 games in and 0 points with only Salford and Crusaders offering any chance of points before 10 games..........and both of them will fancy their chances against us.
Sorry, but he has to go or he needs an assistant and pretty sharpish too!

| Im making no excuses for a shocker of a performance
Lets do a few comparisons
Morley, Monaghan, Carvell v Williams, Randall(Shocker of a game again) Wilkes - Starting front rows
Briers, Myler v Orr, Gale
Bench- Solomona, Higham....... v Bolger, Kaye, James
Anderson brothers, Westwood v Couger, Esders, ex wakey player!!.......
Atkins, Eng Centre, King(Wing), v Clubby, Howell
It was men against boys
Warrington must have loaded 30 times in the game- There was no stopping them.
It was a long afternoon
It was interesting watching the team at the end. They got into huddle with Mcdermott about 30 metres away near the tunnel- The team then finished there chat and didnt know what to do next ie whether he was going to talk to them or whether they should go down the tunnel-as it was Mac just looked at them in disgust as they walked past-No leadership.

But we did have Matt James and Oli Wilkes playing who were specifically singled out for having “a really good understanding of what we're trying to achieve both offensively and defensively".
Then there was Luke Gale, who "is one of a group of young players that want to represent London Rugby League".
And finally who can forget Luke Williamson, who had been "working hard on offensive plays to give us the full package".
