I know I harp on a bit, but surely this is basic "101" stuff?
Here are the tasks that I would say fit the 'SALES" part of the advertised role:
Quote Paddock Punter• [uSell[/u all London Broncos Commercial products including but not exclusive to: Player Sponsorship, Match Sponsorship, Match Ball Sponsorship and Business Partnerships
• Take ownership of promote, [usell[/u and run the monthly London Broncos Business Club including main electronic communications
• Take ownership of promote and [usell[/u Match Day Hospitality for all London Broncos home games
• Take ownership of, promote and [usell[/u all London Broncos merchandise
• Take ownership of promote, [usell[/u and run the London Broncos Golf Day
• Work with other London Broncos staff to promote, sell and run wider London Broncos events
• Attend local and wider London based networking events
• Work with the Commercial Manager to [udeliver all obligations to London Broncos sponsors[/u
• Undertake all administrative tasks that are associated with the above roles
• Complete all tasks, outside of the above key responsibilities, as directed by the Commercial Manager and General Manager

Using the word "promote" liberally doesn't mean "market", it means cold call and tell people about it with a view to getting them to buy it.
Marketing is by its very nature a multi-facetted action, of which "cold calling and selling" is the basest form. It's why so many good SALES PEOPLE love cold calling, but this role is specifically about one channel......a sales one.
Whomever steps up I pity them, because how do you promote the idea of matchday sponsorship to a local firm, say GSK up the road, when the attendance is inside 3 figures? What "benefit' do you sell to a local company when 300 of the 500 there are from other areas?
