I aren't saying that referees lose the games. Players making mistakes is part of the sport.
I am talking about video ref decisions being incorrect, nobody caring about the amount of forward passes in the game, the ridiculous on report system etc.

As an ex referee, a few points:
1. You clearly don't understand what a forward pass is. It's nothing to do with where the ball is thrown and where it lands.
2. There's no such thing as a linesman in rugby league.
3. Most importantly, the things you suggest would do very little to help with officiating. What it needs is more referees at all levels fighting to be the best. That's not going to happen when refs get so much abuse every week even at children's level.
So basically, if you want a higher standard of refereeing. Why not become a referee yourself? Failing that at least stop giving give other referees stick from the stands, and encourage other fans to do the same? That would do far more than your six very minor changes. Also, like the poster said above, people will make mistakes, particularly considering you have to be about 1 in 1000 to make it at a super league level as a player. To make it at super league level as a referee I'd estimate it's more like 1 in 30.

| Good luck to those who wish to, but personally I think it’s a waste of time and effort.

1. It should be though. Or it shouldn't be called a forward pass, it should be called a "Used momentum and physics to make the ball move backwards and forwards at the same time" pass.
Joking aside, the ball should be caught behind or in line with the player passing it to make it not move forward. Do you disagree?
2. You knew what I meant.
3. It seems I'm talking to the rugby league fan who never questions the refs lol.
Joking aside though, thanks for the comments.

If we did what you are suggesting, then the vast majority of legal passes would only be made if the player making the pass was standing still.

Players can pass a ball backwards whilst moving.

1. It's called a forward pass because the player passes it forward with his hands. By your definition the vast majority of passes where players are running will be forward. Seriously I don't think you understand the rule. Imagine throwing some rubbish straight behind you out of your car. You threw it backwards, it looks to you like it went backwards, but it will land forwards of where it left your hands. Search "forward pass explained" on that video site, think it's on there still
2. Yes I do, but you would look more uninformed than you already do if you started trying to seriously talk to the RFL about 'linesman'
3. I don't give them stick, and recognise when they're right (even when it goes against Wigan), that puts me in a very small minority. Seriously, I don't think you're understanding the real issue (and I do agree there is one), these tiny cosmetic changes you suggest would have almost no effect. There is a serious shortage of refs to choose from, and it's not hard to work out why

| Maybe a petition to show the ref's a little more respect for doing a very demanding job, to a very high standard on a weekly basis, would encourage more people to be a ref, thus increasing the talent pool, thus increasing the standard of refereeing.
FWIW the standard of refereeing is not all that poor in our game. Considering it's played at break neck speed, and the refs have to make a judgement call on every ruck, every pass, every tackle, it's not all that bad.
I would love to see anyone who signed this petition referee an u8s game to a high standard, let alone a SL game.

| I honestly believe the standard of officiating isn't a problem.
The problem is fans perceiving the standard of officiating as being low, because they themselves don't understand the rules properly.

Hopefully the addition of Cummins as a sky pundit will go some way to curing this.
