I wouldn't be surprised if we'd been interested, but we have a lot of back row talent at present. That may have limited what we were prepared to spend.

According to the papers, Leeds, Cas and Hull were all in for him, no mention of us. Its not Lenagans policy to sign a 30 year old. Not with the amount of young back rowers we already have at the club.

Ellis's agent did say all 14 super league clubs inquired about his services but it was only ever going to be a Yorkshire club with available cap space who was going to sign him.
