It seems the "esteemed" leader of Wakefield Council has been awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours.

Whilst I accept he's worked in a signifigant proportion of his career in local government, I find it hard to believe that someone who has had to apologise to the council for making important announcements in the press before informing the council and can't believe his "contibution" to Wakefield has been worthy of such an honour (an MBE at best maybe).

I'm glad this hasn't disrupted the thread for Steve Prescott who deserves his honour without any question.

I also read Wakefield has been nominated for Council of the Year. How odd.

Totally agree with Steve Presscott receiving the MBE but why on earth do we give Jenson Button one and Peter Box. New Years honours list for me is becoming a joke with the Queen dishing out MBEs and CBEs like sweets.

I was shocked DJ Talent did not receive one

Given that some would argue that Box is a conman, maybe he should have got a knighthood!!!
