Sad news on reading that David Watkins has died. A class fullback with a great kicking game playing for Wales and GB and later being a Rugby League presenter. A true character. RIP

He was all class.
He'd have been an all time great for Welsh rugby union like Barry John that followed him but of course he's wiped out of their history.
Salford signing him was massive given he was Wales and British Lions captain and number 10.

Only player to ever captain GB Lions in both codes too.

Think he still holds the record for scoring in most consecutive games in RL with Salford.
I assume he's in Salford Hall of Fame as he led them to their most successful era in the 70s.

Was a all time great, Went to Salford on a Friday night Watkins was unbelievable that night we lost 72 - 0 .came out of ground bus had broken down .Think we got back about 1 am ,Had better times watching Wakefield .RIP a true legend
