All DM's comments just sound like excuses and just saying whatever he can to keep Cas fans off his back to me

Saying he's signed for crazy money and then to barely train, just sounds ridiculous

Does anybody genuinely believe Cartwright is the type of guy who would let somebody on the pitch who hasn't worked as hard in training as every other player on the team

I'm quite confident Watts will be in for a tougher few weeks of training than he ever received in his years at Cas.

He won't be in the team unless we have injuries or suspensions

Maguire's petulance is both his lack of experience and class and clearly some level of disappointment. 
If he was genuinely wanting Watts out he wouldn't be lowering himself to the immature swiping. 
I take this as a positive Watts is here. 
It's potentially a very good stop-gap for both parties. 

Maguire never had any class as a player so no reason to think he would as a coach.
