Sounds like he just lost the enthusiasm for Donny or had his head turned by Fev and decided to "retire" so we'd be sure to get rid of him and he'd get a nice pay out...bit of a duck move if true.

Haven't heard anything on the fev rumours, but he did say on his twitter account that he needed some new boots, and as one door closes another opens.

Perhaps he just got fed up with cheapskateism.
Either way, declaring unilaterally that you ain't playing when you're paid for playing never went down well with me.

And I'd he does start playing again, and we don't have evidence yet, his name is mud ... as it was when he moved across the city of Hull to the darker side.

The signing of Paul should go down as one of the clubs greatest achievements ,
without him I doubt we would have had the glory of finishing as Champions and finishing in the upper echelons of the division the following season.
Paul guided us around the pitch showing his class, making us look a side worthy of finishing in the top four , and we should offer our gratitude for that.
I think as a coach he tried to stay loyal to the current squad ,when clearly some of them couldn't cut the mustard at this level, add to that the signing of too many young inexperienced players and the lesser quality of
players from Hull and that is why we are in our current predicament.
I see no point pulling the guy down because he has ( if confirmed) decided to reignite his playing career. He has a family to support and showed a lot of class with his comments when The Dons dispensed with his services.

Confirmed on the Fev site to and as a player, thats poor form Cookey, not something you do to a club who you claim helped you get back on your feet lost a massive amount of respect for him now and makes me think that all the "retirement" was a ruse to get fired and move on.

With regards to your points above, who signed the players who he found couldn't cut the mustard and who decide to retire when we desperately needed half back?

If he had moved into purely a coaching role I would happily wish him well and the best for the future (save against us) but to retire and not play in our hour of need and to two weeks later go and sign as a player for a rival club is just not cricket at all.

Add to the fact that this is now overshadowing what should be a bright new dawn for the Dons...its quite me quite angry.

Confirmed on fev site now. Whilst I find it disappointing he pulled out of playing for the Dons ,and has decided to now play on, I can only wish him well because he is a class act. Stopped playing to concentrate on coaching, which most said was probably a good thing at the time. Maybe the coaching job came too early, who knows.

Sadly I dont think I can wish him well as I think he's had this in his mind for a while, remembering back he engineered his way from the Black and Whites to the Red and Whites many moons back.
