Quote SirStan="SirStan"Are the derbies getting lower & lower in everyone's priorities? If this is our "Cup Final", then I have a serious problem with the game as a whole, 'cos I really can't be bothered.
Maybe I will feel different on Sunday morning.....'"
Seems to be a bit of disillusionment about, but I can't say that I share it. There's a few games that are a bit dispiriting even in prospect, but not too many and this isn't one of them.
I've enjoyed the season, for the most part and I'm looking forward to the run-in and hoping Rovers can secure a play-off spot. Which, frankly, we should from here but as we all know sport has tendency to kick its fans in the nuts when you start taking things for granted.
Hull have got a cup final on the horizon, and will see their season through that prism, naturally enough, with other results having less significance than that.
We've got a play-off place to chase down, and while that might provoke the odd sarcastic 'whoopee-do' from the jaded, to me it's not bad. Certainly better than not chasing a play-off place, though even then I think we tend to see games as a stepping stone rather than an event in their own right too much.
Somebody who wins a leg of the tour de france or a F1 grand prix - still worth celebrating even if they're way behind the yellow jersey or have no chance of winning the championship.
