The consensus on the former appears to be that whilst it raises some valid points about present days issues it is very much a dewey-eyed misrememberance of a heroic past. The consensus on the latter appears to be that the people on totalrl are a bunch of s.

I wish people would lay out what has been said in the link in the opening post. Five posts in and I still don't know what the feck the thread is about. So then I have to open the link. Yawn. That's 3.4 seconds of my excruciatingly boring life that I'll never get back.

To be fair, I don't think I ever expected anyone to agree on RL Fans (just like Total Morons RL) as there's nothing wrong with the game in many people's eyes here.
However, what gets me is that people deride it as a load of rubbish but then don't actually have the intelligence to respond to the points raised, which makes me think that people just don't want to see what's staring them in the face. 
I appreciate that it's beneath a lot of you but there is a lot of discussion on this thread, and just because the content doesn't conform with Rugby League Propaganda, doesn't mean that some of the participants haven't raised valid points.
PS The first page is nostalgic old gumph. You might as well skip that.

Read it all and have to say that I agree with quite a lot of what has been written.
I have been a fan of the game over 50 years and my agreement with many of the points made is not based upon dewy eyed sentimentality.

I posted similar on the Leeds board when this was discussed.
People in 60s 70s and 80s probably used to moan about the game not being as good then as it was with unlimited tackles for example.
The fact its been written by [iDespondent [/iDave is hardly surprising either. |
