there's only one possible winner this year. he plays golf and he's from northern ireland. there is a serious lack of back up nominees this year - or is it back to being a normal british year for sport after the riches of the last couple?

McIlroy is absolutely nailed on the win the main award. Not sure they'll get team of the year though. In Medina they were not favourites and won with one of the most memorable comebacks in any sport ever. This year they were strong favourites to win, and did so pretty comfortably. Not sure who will win though because there haven't been many stand out teams really. Yorkshire CCC? Team England at the commonwealths?

It would be nice to see Burgess on the short list, yes he's going to Union but he's still achieved what he has in league. He won't be nominated though.

Why does Sam deserve to be nominated more than Aaron Ramsay who was man of the match in the FA Cup Final. First realistic comparison I could think of
