Didn't go to the game today.
However I did tune in and out of the live GMR commentary provided by Phil Kinsella.
I know he never admits it publically but Phil is a Wigan supporter/fan and he certainly showed his true colours whenever a warrington player appeared injured today.
In fact I would go as far to say that the excitement in his voice when an injury occured was just the same if not more than when warrington actually scored. And Im sure at one point he was revelling in the fact that wigan came through unscathed last night and that warrington were appearing to pick up a few injuries.

Terribly biased commentary by Phil, not through what he said necessarily but how he said it and what he implied.

I hope he sues you for defamation, although he'll probably just ignore your immaturity. Pathetic.

I'd like to give my thoughts about Mr Kinsella, re his "commentaries" and his phone-in "analysis", but I fear they wouldn't pass the swear filter..or a potential ban......and if my mum saw it, she'd never speak to me again!

I disagree completely. Phil always comes across as a very knowledgeable bloke and totally unbiased. I listened to the game today and not once did he get giddy about our injuiries, it was totally the opposite he sounded very concerned when King was down.

He lives on TANCW planet, where only his opinion counts

point of order...there are a few other posters on here, who have their own planets, where a similar "my opinion is law" system applies

In fairness I wasn't tuned in when King got injured.
It was in the second half around the time Myler went off that I heard it. He wasn't giddy, just a bit excited that we may be hit with a few injuries whilst his wigan team came through unscathed.
When commentating on warrington why he needs to discuss wigan is beyond me. But unfortunately he cant stop himself, always refers to wigan no matter what he is discussing or what game he commentates on.

I also can't bear Kinsella's vitriol towards the salary cap...funny how he always immediately mentions Wigan's inability to spend over the amount, but never mentions anyone else's issues with this (ie Leeds, Stains, us).

TBH, I've given up with Radio Manchester. It's gone back to the bad old days, when we had "Me, Rodney May", and his studio full of pictures of Ellery Hanley and Joe Lydon....they were truly cringeworthy days

While I don't agree with all of Phil's views, I wouldn't question his love for the game. He's a good journo and a good commentator, and he isn't a Wigan fan (although I did accuse him of being one myself once).

Not questioning his love of the game or knowledge but he definitely leans towards wigan whether he wants to admit it or not. He has the right to support whoever he wants but he needs to keep it in check when commentating on other teams.

He, of course, has the right of reply.

I also listened to him today, totally agree, some people hear what they want to hear.

Phil does come across as having a Wigan bias but he is a decent commentator and has passion and knowledge of the game. Far better commentator than some on local radio especially those that keep getting names of players and teams wrong.

He genuinly seemed concerned for Kingy this afternoon and as any sports journo would he talked about the impact of the possibility of losing him for the big game next week.
