| Nick Clegg has consigned the Lib-dems to History by climbing into bed with the Tories within 9 months the Tory Right wing will sweep Cameron and Clegg aside to pursue their own extreme agenda Clegg will be left to rue the day he sold his principles and his values ( that's if he ever had any) to follow his own selfish aims, Clegg and the Lib-dems are over.

| Only way forward at the moment is this coalition wether we like it or not.
At least the Tories will not be able to pursue the extreme right wing agenda that they would like.
Quite frankly I hardly think we will notice much of a difference between this and the last government for as long as the coalition holds together.

| The alternative was a rainbow coalition with the english being held to ransome by Alex Salmond and the SNP. That would have been a far worse nightmare.

| What would you prefer? What we've got now or the country being held to ransom by the Scots, Welsh and Irish?

| Peawapp is on the money. Don't understand why the Lib Dems allowed themselves to be swallowed whole. Yeah, they might moderate the Tory right, but they can't criticise the government because they are the government. What's going to happen at bye-elections? Will the Tory and Lib Dem candidates be in smoking jackets going 'vote for you old chap', 'no, vote for YOU old chap!'
Actually, come to think of it, that might actually be what happens.

| After watching that sickening display of 'togetherness' today, I think you're absolutely right W71. It made me want to vomit.

| When you think about it the Tories should have got a majority, as they couldn't have had a better opportunity. Brown was unpopular, the economy is biting etc. Maybe had Brown stepped down before the election then Tories would not have won the extra seats they did. Maybe Cameron's determined attempts to get to number 10 shows this.
I thought all the talking was about supporting the government in the commons - I was very surprised when cabinet posts where talked about. Clegg will want this to work more than anyone because of his party wanting PR and this kind of sharing so even when pushed you can't see them voting against Tories. Think Libs will be losers out of all this further down the line.
As W71 said will be interesting how agreeable they are in any future by-elections etc.
