I usually look forward to and enjoy our matches against Lids but I'm not expecting this Sunday to be a pleasant experience and quite frankly anything less than a drubbing will surprise me. The dross we've been subjected to recently is unacceptable and the dramatic decline in the teams performance shows no sign of improving. At the moment it looks like we're a rudderless ship sinking fast and nobody has a clue how to fix it. As a result the players confidence is rock bottom and from the stands it looks as though they're resigned to that fact and if nobody else is apparently bothered then why should they be
I go to the match on Sunday desperately hoping that
a) Anderson stands up and shows who's captain of the "good ship Fartown". He coaches, selects and inspires a side capable of turning up, putting in the effort and turning our form around. A team that is capable of performing not only as individuals but as a "team" and one that can get back to winning ways and playing like we did during the early season ?
b) The players selected turn up, pull on the shirt, get out on the field, stand up and be counted, do themselves justice and restore some of the pride back into the team, which has been sadly lacking in some of our recent performances.
c) We can actually stop dropping the ball, giving silly penalties away and start tackling again instead of some of the "touch rugby" defence we've seen recently
d) We can be competitive in a game for the full 80 mins
Time for action on the field now, not "throw away" articles in the Examiner
I will attend in hope that even if we lose our performance shows a marked improvement, and a little bit of pride is restored in the famous "claret and gold" shirt
Roll on next season
