What a fantastic showing from a young Wigan team last night. I used to think you would really struggle without Tomkins, but I have seen three Wigan games in the past year that have changed my mind. One being last night with a great defensive display, and in the game between ourselves and the eliminator against leeds at the DW last season. It's clear that your nowhere near as explosive without him, but Wane has put a fantastic defensive structure and you have some quality young talent coming through. Blake Green also look's one helluva signing.

We will see the best of Green when the weather picks up and the pitches are dry. I said when we signed him I thought he'd be the signing of the season in SL and il stick by it. He has everything you'd want in a 6, awareness, vision, the ability to create space, a good kicking game, decent defender and can open defences up in the blinking of an eye. Im suprised nobody has mentioned the inside ball he gave Farrell for his try last night.

You forgot to mention his missed tackle on JJB for his try.Maybe he is not the complete no 6 you think he is.

Show me a no 6 who does not miss tackles - especially on forwards. seriously doubt such a beast exists, even a very good defensive HB like Tommy Leuluai sometimes missed them.

Green has a lot to go to be a top no 6 - he has all the attributes to make a good player for us there.

McGuire's never been a tackler. Unless it's 3rd man housing round the chin.

It was a poor miss but he's certainly not had an issue with his defence to date and everone makes a mistake. I've been hugely impressed with him so far. His alround game has been terrific and I agree that as the grounds firm up he'll really start to come in to his own.

The only area I'd say he needs work in is his fitness. He does look to tire late in games and has been replaced a couple of times. He's certainly at the right club though when it comes to improving on that score.

I wonder if the fitness thing is due to him missing so much of last season - but it will improve over time

He's still got a lot of strapping on his calf, and I suspect he would be having a week or two off if we didn't have such a long injury list.
