A decent start, playing quite expansively. I don't think we'll be short of talking points. A little stamp by Griffin on Flower. Also does anyone else think we had a case for a penalty try. Smith looked like he was taken off the ball to me.

But the Gelling try should never have been after a blatant trip by O'Loughlin on Chase.

I agree, O'loughlin was lucky not to get at least a yellow for his sliding tackle, that said though Wigan have been the better team , but Salford should've been on the scoreboard when johnson(i think) chose to go alone when he had Ashurst and Chase on his inside unmarked

Calls have been fairly even. I think SOL was trying to kick the ball backwards, missed and took out the player instead. Not intentional but should have been a penalty. The Charnley no try was harsh too. Those are often given as a knock on but in that case I thought he was just making a tackle rather than playing the ball.

We are playing reasonably well, Salford are their own worst enemy though. Sau bombed a sitter and on most occasions they've been on our line they've dropped it. I think their timing on the set plays is a bit off too. On several occasions the receiver has run behind the dummy runner.

With regards to the Charnley one, it doesn't have to be intentional does it? I thought they changed the rules (again) to say that if it goes forward off a defender's hand or arm then it's a knock on, regardless of intent. I may be wrong but I think that's the case.

They're ALWAYS given as a knock on, they haven't been allowed play on for a good number of years now. So it's not really unfortunate. Also thought the last pass before the charnley try was forward...

Wigan have been on the end of a lot of ... Favourable poor reffing decisions, but Salford have been worse than the ref!

Nice summary. Salford have been poor but Wigan have had the majority of the decisions.

There's another one that shouldn't have been given. Blatant obstruction in the build up.

They've gone full circle with obstruction. Last time we played Salford there was a ridiculous number of penalties given for it. Now they seem to be ignoring most.

On a side note, do you want a Dudson over the hill. Big bloke but a bit of a liability.
