I wouldn't, that forces us to rush into a replacement which may result in us getting the wrong man. It's not like we have an experienced assistant who can take over until the end of the season either. Keep him but get looking. The big game record in semi finals and against Saints is a horror show. We still get spoke of during media coverage as being this nasty team, who will always stick in games and push you to the 80th minute. That was Wanes team whereas Lams team has been absolutely battered from minute one to minute eighty in three semi finals.

Not saying we don't need changes but no I wouldn't do that (other than giving Smith a crack). We don't have a strong assistant as far as I'm aware. French is far better suited to FB than wing. I'd want his hands on the ball more not less because he's so dangerous with it, plus I'm not convinced he is as strong in the air as Manfredi or Burgess.

If we got rid of Lam whoever we brought in as coach would still have to deal with exactly the same issues. Is a new coach likely to turn the likes of Partington or Shorrocks into barnstorming prop forwards? Ultimately the weak front row and overreliance on on young players seems to be our biggest problem and that's not going away with a change of coach.

For me Lam has until the end of the season to show that he can learn from our defeats and at least attempt to work on our deficiencies. I don't think we've got a squad good enough to win the Grand Final because of the poor return from our established players, so it's probably unfair for me to expect him to win, but I'd at least want to see improvement. I'd like to see him figure out where we can improve and make those changes rather than saying he doesn't know why it happened every time we lose.

Is "I don't know what happened" the new "we trained well"

It's not the kind of thing I'd ever expect to hear from a professional sports coach.

Maybe, you could say he's just being honest, but there's such a thing as being too honest.

It's not going to help anyone's morale when the guy in charge doesn't just look lost, but sounds it as well.
