| Don't know if it's old or new news but an artical in todays YEP says Leeds councilors are asking for the Newmarket Project to be called in. Don't know how to put on a link but i am sure plenty on here can. If this is old news then sorry about the new thread.

It's on one of the other threads. They can ask, doesn't mean they will get what they want (warehousing units in Leeds rather than Wakefield). Just ask Sheffield Council.

Not good news if this happens.
At Salford we were called in in January 06 and it took until June 06 for the enquiry to start that lasted until mid July 06 and the final decision was given in November 06

Here's a link www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... 6607267.jp
Looks like we have no issues with your stadium, its all the warehouses and industry that'll be alongside the project. i suspect the main bugbear they'll use is increased traffic flow through Rothwell and Methley

| The article changes nothing; the LCC east planning panel signalled their intention to do this last week.
This is just the YEP pulling together the 'mindful to approve' decision, the LCC response and some reaction.
Next!

"some reaction"
If Pickles decides there is merit in the LCC's objections, then there will be an Inquiry, and even if you receive a thumbs up for the development, you are looking at a minimum of 9/12 months delay in starting the project.
Does your construction plans have that sort of lee way built in to them? I doubt Red Hall will be willing to extend your SL application for that length of time, so if I was you, I'd be praying Mr Pickles takes a relaxed view on what constitutes green belt!

| Nothing to worry about. It's old news, and as have been mentioned in previous threads their objection is based upon them getting the warehouse/industry in their backyard rather than Wakefield council. It'll be thrown out pretty fast

| Maybe I'm thick, but wouldn't most, if not all, traffic into the site use the M62 and its links to the M1/A1 next door, rather than potter through Rothwell/Methley?

No your not thick. That's called common sense.
TBH I'm not sure if it never dawned on residents of Methley or if they chose to ignore that simple fact.
My colleague at work never even dreamt of the HGV's coming through the M62, all she heard was "industrial" and "Newmarket" and began to scream uncontrollably.

I think everyone who comes on here knows that if it gets called in, there is no Super League for three years at least, unless Oakwell is what constitutes "leeway." It has been confirmed by the club's marketing that 2011 is the last year at Belle Vue. Even the season tickets say it.

A similar story also made The Guardians website:
www.guardian.co.uk/leeds/2010/oc ... ouncillors
Our good friend Foulmouth aka Outwood Tiger was quick to make a comment, to which I quickly shot down.
If people claim that there are unused facilities of the scale that are required to meet regional economic targets they will have no problem backing up that claim with statistics and suitable sites- THAT ARE WITHIN OUR REGION.
Neither NIMBY, nutter (foulmouth) nor naysayer (LCC) have been able to do any of the above.
But let's not let facts get in the way of a good old "Wakey bashing".
One thing I did think of today was that the industrial sites (the major point of contention on the face of it) were designated as part of the LDF, which has been ratified by central government already. Would this not fly in the face of the need for a public inquiry??? Why pay millions to decide something which has already been approved in draft?
