Chris Anakin was again our best forward today, the coach gives him very little game time, and the play makers often miss him out but once again he showed today that if the coach puts him on the field and the play makers give him the ball he will scatter defenders. He changed the second half for us today, he came on carried the ball twice setting up a try and getting us on the front foot. Then he didnt get a pass. He must play against Cas.

Did not think that was the type of game we needed today, not our fault that Hull rested most of their first choice players, as a result our defence was not tested. That said we put some good moves on. Thought Kirmond and Ryan were poor today, Lyne was very poor in defence. Sammut looked good but is obviously not in the coaches thoughts.

Massive well done to Owen who had a great game. MacShane went well as always. Not sure where to hide Miller in the line, him and Lyne defending next to each other was not good at all.

Plenty of positives, bit still lots to work on.

Wouldn't describe Annakin as the best forward although he did his job at the time he came on. By then the hard work had been done by the workhorses. Agree he should be in regular 1st 17.
Was more troubled by Lynes inability to get his winger away than his lack of defense.
Molloy was responsible for at least two of the breaks that lead to tries. Good show by him too.

Molloy showed some very nice footwork for the breaks.

Minus Ashurst and Kirke, today's highlight for me was the depth in the forwards. Annakin probably won't start at Cas, but if he does, then we will still be ok. Ditto Molloy.

Not many negatives today. Some understandings between players can only be fixed by time playing together, and we have seen an improvement in each game, suggesting things are being learned.

We will be ready for Cas come the 8th Feb!

I would be interested to know what Webster considers his first choice pack.... for me it would be Anderson, McShane, Paea, Kirmond, Ali and D Smith. With Annakin, Simon and Kirke (the other bench spot being taken by a back).

Ali will be on the bench for 99% of the games he's in this year Pea & Simon are probs bench with Kirke starting when fit.
I think an annakin is a tank but think he'll only get a chance when injuries to others permit, bit like Crowther and Molloy.

Would hope that Godinet is in the 17 every week.

Think it will be... Scruton, McShane, Anderson, Kirmond, Ryan and D.Smith....with Lauitiiti, Paea, Kirke and Godinet taking the bench spots.

Still not sure Miller should be ahead of Sammut at 6....

I'd play Scruton ahead of Kirke, sorry I did include him originally but swapped Anderson in and forgot to put him on the bench. But I don't think Ryan has shown enough in the pre-season to justify inclusion compared with the others. Webster has some difficult choices. This raises the same questions as last year in regard to a second team. Whatever team Webster picks we're going to have a lot of forwards left out, where can these lads find form, match fitness and stick their hands up for a first team shirt.

Didn't see today's game but thought Ryan looked a real threat against Leeds and took his try well. He has pace and some size for a second row and was a stand out last season. I'd be really surprised if he does not start alongside Kirmond in the second row against Cas.

Simon may get the bench spot ahead of Kirke if Kirke not fit in time..
