Hi me and the wife are going to Barcelona for three nights and am looking for tips good bars etc, what to look out for. Want to see plenty of Gaudi architecture during the day and want a decently lively night not clubs but decent nightlife. Some authentic tapas bars woulld be good. We are staying walking distance to the ramblas.
Whether to use tours,busses etc would be helpfull
Im a Hull fan but it looks difficult to get to Bezier and back in a day were they play Cats, so would like to know any bar were i can possibly watch the game as i think they televise all their home games and it is Catalan region.

Two tips for Las Ramblas.....

If you decide to eat drink there (and I wouldn't really, its good for a wander down keeping your hand on your wallet)

Don't say yes when asked i you would like a 'large' beer.

Don't say yes when asked if you would like ham and cheese as an aperitif!

Have fun though, its a magnificent city

I've been to Barcelona twice in the last year but both times for clubbing holidays so I can't be much help with what you're after, but La Rambla is buzzing with bars and restaurants on an evening.

Also, whatever you do make sure you go on an evening to see the fountains on Plaza Espanya, one of the most stunning man-made attractions I've ever seen. The Cathedral is well worth a visit too.

As long as you can put up with skanky hookers and their pimps

The tour buses cost about 20 euros but you can hop on and off all day so they are a good way of getting around the city.

Barcelona also has a good underground system.

Las Ramblas is a rip off. By all means go there to see it but if you want to eat or drink go to the side streets and squares nearby where its much cheaper.

And has already been said, watch out for the pickpockets.

Theres a sports bar on the ramblas that should put the rugby match on for you

I went last year and we got on a tour Bus which was really worth it, you get to see lots of Gaudi architecture as you go by which is pointed out to you and described on the headphones, and you can also get off and do to the museums. If you want to go into any of the cathedral/churches then the ladies need to wear skirts past the knee and tops that cover the shoulders - and all of the bits in between! The bus goes past Barcelona football stadium and everywhere.
I was there on a hen night and the clubs were excellent but don't open til late, about 12-1am.
There are some really dodgy places to eat - I'd do some research on trip advisor if I was you.

As said earlier the place is very rife for pickpockets etc so make sure you look after your belongings - but the city is beautiful I remember going with school and being chased along the waterside at the top of la rambles by a dog foaming at the mouth and no it wasn't a hooker
