Another complete farce from the highways agency last night.

A63 closed at the bridge, with traffic being sent up past willerby, castle hill toward Beverlyey (god knows where the route was, I turned off at skidby and cut through to south cave).
Then a bit further on, M62 closed at M18 with all traffic joining a massive queue outside Thorne. I turned off and cut through to Snaith then A19 but again what a joke for anyone who didn't know the area.

Got to feel sorry for saints fans who must have been travelling home well into the early hours. It does make you wonder how these things are coordinated (or not).

They have clearly excelled themselves this week. My journey up the A1 on Thursday night was interrupted by a 40 mile 1 hour diversion through Melton Mowbray and all the surrounding villages. What the village folk feel about hundreds of HGVs thundering through their village through the night lord only knows.

It was a total disgrace. Driving over to Hull there were no warnings to suggest the road closures were happening later on, otherwise we would have gone home via York. We got home at half midnight after a set of diversions that meant on Yorkshire Day we managed to drive through North, East, South and West Yorkshire. God knows what time some of the Saints fans would have got home.

I didn't grt back to Rodley in Leeds until quarter to one, total farce. Ended up driving through Doncaster and back up the A1. God knows what time the Saints fans got home. The lack of warnings and useless diversion signs made it worse. However even that couldn't put a dampener on a fantastic game.

Chin dropped when I saw the signs to divert towards Beverley. I went through Ferriby and Elloughton rejoined at South Cave. Followed the Preckie1 Saints bus so he must have been coming to Hull for a while. Basically followed the old A63!!!!!!

any idea why the diversion was in place?

So a bunch of blokes in high viz jackets can get a shed load of money doing not.

But its his opinion and he's entitled to it. You're normally a great believer in people having an opinion.

I'd hazard a guess at repairs

They were clearing the road of traffic so Standee could get to the match in double quick time.

I think they are re-surfacing some of the road that's why it was closed.
